Our Water Bottle Exploring The World
Meet the most well traveled member of our airport team, Friendly the Water Bottle. In the featured photo, Friendly is striking a pose in the foreground while the Sydney Opera Houses’ sails glow in the background. A perfect snapshot of how our hometown airports connect to the wider world.
Here’s the idea, we gift a reusable water bottle with the San Carlos/Half Moon Bay airport logo to local pilots and airport friends. Then Friendly hops into flight bags, carry on bags, and daypacks, heading wherever our community goes. From iconic landmarks to hidden gems, travelers send back photos of Friendly “on location,” and we share their shots in the Friendly Approach newsletter, around the terminal, and on our digital channels. It’s a lighthearted way to celebrate aviation, sustainability, and the global adventures that start right here in San Mateo County.
The fun is in the contrast: a familiar bottle from our neighborhood airports standing proudly in front of world famous places. Along the way, Friendly sparks conversations about SQL and HAF. How our airports support local businesses, emergency response, education, and access to the Coastside. While reminding everyone to choose reusables and reduce single use plastic. Friendly is part postcard, part mascot, and 100% community. And be assured, NONE of our Friendly photos are AI generated! Every photo is taken on location by our airport friends and pilot family.
A quick note on safety and respect: Anytime you may be out plane spotting, please follow all local rules and property guidelines, avoid restricted areas, and keep airside photos to escorted or publicly accessible locations only. Always Plane spot and photo shoot the Friendly Approach way.
