San Carlos Airport is moving forward with the long-planned replacement of the 795 Skyway building, a facility that has far exceeded its useful life. Originally designed in 2019 but delayed during the COVID pandemic, the replacement project reflects the Airport’s commitment to maintaining sustainable, functional airport facilities while also supporting the broader community. Demolition of the old building is complete, and construction activities will continue for approximately 18 months.
The building was home to long-standing flight schools that were displaced during the Skyway Center development. These flight schools play a vital role in preserving small aircraft flight training at San Carlos, an activity deeply connected to the region’s aviation heritage and to local STEM education programs. The new building ensures that these small businesses can continue operating at San Carlos Airport.
The all-electric replacement building will feature five office suites, ADA-compliant restrooms, and two large meeting rooms. This meeting space will be available not only to airport users and staff but also to community groups and local nonprofits. Demand for accessible meeting facilities at and around the airport has been high for many years, and this project directly responds to that need.
The 795 Skyway building replacement is an investment in the airport’s role as a community asset. Updated facilities support:
