SMC Airports Participate In Noise Conferences

On Behalf of Our Community

Representing San Carlos and Half Moon Bay, our airport team attends the industry’s leading noise and emissions conferences each year to bring home best practices, policy updates, and innovations that benefit our residents, pilots, and airport users.

In November 2025, we participated in NBAA’s conference in Las Vegas and the AAAE/ACI‑NA airport noise conference in Naples, Florida. These forums connect airports, regulators, researchers, and operators to share what’s working. Everything from community engagement strategies and pilot education to data tools that help track and reduce noise impacts.

Looking ahead, we will return to Las Vegas in March 2026 for the UC Davis Aviation Noise & Emissions Symposium. We’ll be listening for developments in technology, federal and state policy, and operational procedures that we can translate into practical improvements for our noise abatement program and outreach.

County of San Mateo Airports have participated in these conferences every year since 2018. Our goal is consistent: strengthen our knowledge, stay current on government policies and procedures, and inform and educate our community about new tools and approaches that can reduce noise and improve quality of life. We appreciate the ongoing feedback from neighbors, tenants, and pilots. This helps us focus our learning and advocacy where it matters most.
