Hiller Aviation Announces Flight Training Scholarships

— Applications due: May 19, 2023 —

The Hiller Aviation Museum, located at San Carlos Airport, recently announced it has established a flight training scholarship program for ages 16-18 years. Applications are currently being accepted for two scholarships, each in the amount of $15,000, to be applied toward the costs of obtaining an FAA private pilot license.

According to Hiller’s website, “Flight training is probably the most challenging and demanding task a young person can undertake, but is one of the most satisfying and rewarding of their lives!”

The scholarships are best suited for candidates that have done their homework and are, according to Hiller, “personally knowledgeable about the process and practices for obtaining their pilot’s license and will likely have already taken their first steps toward that goal.”

Applications, which are due by May 19, 2023, include writing a 200-word essay to share why a candidate wishes to pursue flight training. Applicants must reside in the San Francisco Bay Area. The program is funded by Ray Foundation and other contributors.
